Hi Paul ..yes, I bought this one too and it arrived last week or the week before.

I am still waiting on Jay's album and Cheryl's 4 track EP to arrive but I have no idea what the tracks on either of these cds sound like, except for the short samples of each of the 4 four tracks from the EP placed by
Mark Wood on FB and two of the tracks already released as singles from Jay's latest album.... I shall try to place the link to the EP samples here ASAP..

I guess i will still also buy Cheryl's full album (part 2) when it comes out, as well as the 35th anniversary dvd and also the next album by CMJ (Formerly of Fizz) with Bobby M as well..

This is the album i am really waiting for and looking forward to hearing.... but especially the reworked Bucks Fizz tracks , which I still suspect will be MCNL and the LOMB .. and a few others.

I have played Mike's entire album only once so far but I do like all the songs overall and despite them being all covers, I do think that Mike does a great job with each of them.
His vocals sound good and in tune and strong for the most part.

The only duet on the album is Mike with Cheryl for the love ballad ''Islands In the Stream''... first done in 1983 of course by Dolly and Kenny.
I shall attempt a review for the album as soon as I can
I wont say that it is worth 15 pounds (plus postage) but it is worth at least 9 to 10 pounds, I guess.

I have only listened once (arrived 2 days ago) but Mike sounded great as did the music. I'm sure the single is getting heaps of airplay in the UK but nothing as yet here in Australia :) Will provide a fuller review after further listens, but I don't think it will better the fabulous In My Life which I thought really showcased Mikes voice and deep connection with the songs. My favs there were "Everything I Own" which was way better than Boy George and "Alone Again Naturally" and of course the hit single "Desperado" (well in the UK I'm sure) :)

Order not possible

Hello,

last week I wanted to order this new Mike Nolan CD "Rose Of Cimarron". But when I was on the PayPal page to complete the order I got a message from PayPal that the seller is not able to receive payments. What does this mean? How can I order ? Greetings from Germany, Michael

Are you on Facebook Michael?  If so, go to the official Mike Nolan page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/mikenolanofficial/), then message the administrator. Tasha Worth, she should be able to help you ;)

With regard to this album, the CD single, the various DVDs, Jay's music, Cheryl's music and the general back catalogue, I really don't understand why they don't have a webshop attached to the website. Why so many random and disparate purchasing options?

It all seems to be done on favours... the website was put together by a non-paid (as far as I know) fan-become-friend-of -band,
I don't think it is something that he updates very regularly but I do believe that they are working on something for a webshop.
I'm not really a fan of their website TBH.

I'm not a complete fan of it either.  I think the idea is fine but the execution is too fussy, cluttered and hard to navigate.  But it feels mean to criticise something that is being done as a freebie or at mates' rates. Are they really that cash strapped? If so, maybe they could think of clubbing together with a few other like-minded artists and create a co-op style webshop?  I'm sure there are lots of heritage/nostalgia acts in the broad pop realm who would love a central place to sell their music and merchandise, and possibly reach new customers among the other acts' fan bases,

There is, I have just seen, a webshop of sorts there now.

You may have missed it in the clutter :D

And yes, agree about the feeling mean side of things.. I do know the guy that did it and he is lovely and spent ages on it. Its just that its obvious his style of deseign and programming was learned in the earlier days of the internet - it reminds me of the old 'Geocities' websites.

Using a free/cheap tool like WIX would make such a better site for them... or even wordpress, on which I made the 'Less Bucks More Fizz' site years ago: https://lessbucksmorefizz.wordpress.com/ (you'll see the same header there as here :D )

I would love to do it for them, but I dont have the time to dedicate to a. making it and b. keeping it updated.

I have just seen it and I'm impressed by how much there is on sale.  I feel even meaner now, knowing the the designer is so nice.  It must be really disheartening for him for some tosspot like me to swan in and pick at his work, even if the tosspot in question (i.e.,, me!) was really only trying to be constructive,

At least now we have been reminded that there is a decent and central go-to spot for new releases and merchandise.

Its a shame as he has spent so long on it, and apparently worked with Jay on it.

I just can't get my head around that they cant see it is so outdated.

Even this, that I started a few years back I think is leaps ahead in terms of clarity of navigation and design - I know its quite generic but at least you can find what you need quickly.

I stopped updating it about 2 years ago - its just sooo time consuming!

Phil your web-skills never cease to amaze me... we are so lucky to have you here!

The official websites have always nee a bit clunky haven't they , which I do think is a shame. the band are lucky they have some one is kind enough to do it as a favour though (and to be fair it's better than anything I could do!)
